Mike Fletcher is a local historian specialising in Lancashire history. This is his second book devoted to Wigans past, and follows in the wake of the popular The Making of Wigan (2005). He is also the author of two other Wharncliffe titles: Making of Manchester (2003) and Making of Liverpool (2004).
